DENZEL'S HEALTHY TREATS 🐾

What are your treats made from?

All Denzel's healthy treats use only 100% natural ingredients including real meat or fish, fresh fruit and vegetables.

No added grain, sugars or nasties.

Denzel's are packed with healthy fats, antioxidants and fibre that aid healthy digestion and keeps your pooch's coat shiny.

For a full breakdown of the ingredients used in each pack check the product page on our shop or refer to the back of pack.

Where do you make your treats?

Denzel's healthy treats are made in the UK & Ireland. Many dog treats out there are shipped from the other side of the world.

Denzel's are made in small batches to give your dogs the freshest treats possible, and minimise transport for a healthier planet.

Feel great by supporting a small UK business that sources from local suppliers too!

Do your treats contain palm oil?

No. All Denzel's treats are palm oil free.

What age are Denzel's treats okay to feed from?

Denzel's treats are suitable for dogs of all shapes and sizes, over 16 weeks.

We have a special sensitive recipe for young puppies too, suitable from 8 weeks old.

How many treats can I feed each day?

The amount of treats you can feed your pup entirely depends on their size/breed and the amount of exercise they do each day.

You should not exceed 10% of your dog's daily calories, where you can use the handy pet nutrition alliance calorie calculator to calculate your furry friend's daily calories.

If you're concerned, it's always best to have a conversation with your vet.

Where do you source your ingredients from?

We source all of our ingredients from local suppliers in the UK and Ireland. We even upcycle fresh wonky fruit and vegetables wherever possible to help with food waste.

What do I do with the pouch and how does it break down?

Simply pop the pack in your regular bin, where it will be taken to landfill and break down naturally within 30 weeks. All our packs are certified home compostable too, so if you have your own compost heap you can dispose of the empty packs there too.

CREATING A HEALTHIER PLANET 🌎

What is your packaging made from?

Denzel cares about our environment, that's why our treats come in 100% plastic free packaging.

Please check the back of the pack to see whether it's best to put it in your compost heap or regular bin (where it will be taken to landfill and broken down naturally in 30 weeks) or whether it's a paper recycling pack.

How should I dispose of the empty pack?

Please check the back of the pack to see whether it's best to put it in your compost heap or regular bin (where it will be taken to landfill and broken down naturally in 30 weeks) or whether it's a paper recycling pack.

How sustainable are your treats?

Sustainability is at the heart of what we do. That's why all our treats are sustainably sourced and made in the UK and Ireland with local suppliers.

We even use carbon-neutral wood chip ovens to bake our training bites and soft-baked chews.

We are looking into additional methods to reduce our carbon pawprint - and are always open to feedback here too!

INGREDIENTS 🧑‍🍳

Are your treats ok for dogs with pancreatitis?

Whilst they are naturally low in fat they aren’t designed specifically to be low fat or for dogs with pancreatitis. The lowest fat products are our puppy & small dog daily dental (2.2%), medium chicken daily dental (3.1%), and medium vegan daily dental (3.4%). At these levels, they're not quite low enough to be classed as a specialist treat.

All nutritional information is available on our website, under the "ingredients and nutrition" sections. We always recommend speaking to your vet if your dog has any specific dietary requirements as they will be able to advise on what’s best for your pooch.

Is Avocado okay for dogs?

We sometimes get asked this as there can be some confusion as to the safety of avocados for dogs. Avocado and avocado oil are ingredients that have proven to be both beneficial and safe for dogs. Over the years there has been misinformation and confusion regarding avocado safety for dogs and cats.
Avocados have multiple health benefits from reducing inflammation, shiny coat and providing a healthy source of fats.

The confusion arises from the fact that avocados contain a substance called Persin. Persin is a substance found in the avocado pit, skin, bark, and leaves of certain varieties.

Persin is harmful to some animals — birds, rabbits, horses, and goats, just to name a few. However, there have been no reported cases of avocado poisoning in dogs and cats. The avocado pit itself can also be a choking hazard for both dogs and cats, so make sure these are disposed of safely.

To be super clear, we ONLY use the healthy flesh of the Avocado, so there is no danger of Persin in our products or any harm to dogs with our chews.

What is agar agar?

Agar agar is made from algae that has the properties of gelatin.

Why do you use honey? Isn’t it sugar?

We add a very small amount of natural honey (less than 1%) into our brunch recipe. We use honey as it's a probiotic which is good for digestion and for dogs with sensitive tummies. We don't ever use artificial sugars, flavourings or colourings in any of our treats.

What herbs do you use?

Our mixed herbs in the Christmas lunch bites contains sage, thyme, basil and oregano.

Does your peanut butter contain xylitol?

Absolutely not. The peanut butter we use is handmade in our bakery by crushing peanuts, cashew nuts, rapeseed oil & coconut oil.

What is crude ash?

It is simply a technical term for the essential minerals your pooch needs eg: Iron, Zinc & Calcium.

Do your treats contain offal?

No. Nope. Zilch.

Why do you use chickpea flour?

We use chickpea flour in our baked treats as it's grain-free and low GI. This means it’s easily digestible and great even for those with sensitive tummies.

Why do you use nuts?

Dogs LOVE nuts and they are a fantastic source of protein and fibre. Also a really good version of healthy oils and fats. We make our own peanut butter from cashews, peanuts and coconut oil. So no added sugars or salts. They are not toxic to dogs, perfectly safe.

What if my dog has allergies?

All of our treats are grain-free and single-source protein. This means there is only 1 type of meat or fish per recipe and do not contain any allergens. All our treats do not contain any grain, additives, preservatives or fillers.

Are your treats okay for dogs with kidney disease?

Our lowest protein recipe is 18.8%, which is our Superfood chew made with salmon, fresh banana and berries. Whilst they are naturally low in fat they aren't designed specifically to be low in fat or protein. We always recommend checking with your vet as they will know what’s best for your pup.

What is glycerine and why do you use it?

Glycerine is what we use to give the product a chewy/semi-moist texture in our training bites and soft-baked chews. We use vegetable glycerine as it is the most natural source - that comes from coconut oils. We use this instead of animal glycerine or sugar or salt, which many other products use as a binder. We don't use Soy or Palm Oil in our products.
